Arabic Letters is a language learning app developed at our Language Acquisition Resource Center (LARC). It allows novice-level students to practice the Arabic alphabet. The main activity is the Writing Practice which scores your handwriting abilities using a shape matching algorithm. Each letter is accompanied by an audio file to make it easy to check the pronunciation.
Free features:
- Writing Practice to check your handwriting
- Audio and examples for each letter
- In-app help and explanations
Premium features (in-app purchase):
- Flash cards
- Identification game
- Statistics (learning performance)
The premium features may be purchased as a package in the app.
The Flash Card system allows you to practice the Arabic alphabet, plus learn three sample words per letter. Each card will play back the pronunciation and you must correctly identify the corresponding letter or word. Statistics keep track of how well you perform, in order to optimize repetition and to present cards in a sequence designed to improve retention and memorization.
The identification/memorization game presents you with an audio sample and a set of cards. You are then asked to choose the card that corresponds to the audio. Statistics are kept for how often you encounter each letter and how often you choose the correct one.
All statistics can be reviewed in a module available from the main menu.
